What Happens When We Cross Over?

I’ve been asked many times what I believe happens after we cross over, so I’ve tried to explain my understanding of it.

I feel that, during the first three or four days, the soul remains close to the physical body, still conscious of everything happening around it. I’m sure they feel the grief of their loved ones and wish they could speak to them one last time.

After three or four days, the soul doesn’t simply leave. It stays close to the places it once lived—their home, favourite places and familiar surroundings—still watching over their family.

I believe they continue to visit us, listening in on conversations while remaining silent.

Some souls find it difficult to disconnect from the physical world. After two weeks or so, they begin the hardest part of their transition from the physical world into spirit.

The soul begins to realise that it cannot return and starts to detach from the physical realm. They may still visit us in dreams, leave messages for us to find and whisper in our ears.

They come closer during times of need and at important moments for those of us left behind here on Earth.

As time progresses, and they see us coming to terms with them no longer being with us, the soul finally lets go of the cord that has bound it here. It ascends towards the light, love and peace, where it is greeted by loved ones who crossed over before.

The truth is, they never really leave. They become part of us, watching over us, guiding us and protecting us from the other side—living in a parallel dimension.

Well, that’s only my understanding.
